"As a single footstep will not make a path on earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives."
Henry David Thoreau
Who we are
Thoughtprint Consulting provides Individual, Couples, and Family Therapy. We specialize in Geriatric Care Consultation. and give commentary on behavioral health issues.
Thoughtprint Consulting was established in 2011 to meet the mental health needs of seniors and their families in the Greater Washington, DC area.
We offer psychotherapy and counseling to help clients with a variety of issues and emotional difficulties, including: anxiety, depression, relationship and family problems, bereavement and difficult life changes.
Our approach is client-centered. We are mindful that many struggle with the challenges associated with meeting their own needs and those of their elderly relatives and friends. People are living longer. Their own children are older. There are often financial issues and chronic illness that create a sense of loss. Navigating the challenges associated with change in our lives and our environment, sometimes requires us to engage others who can look at them and us from the outside in.
Although we use a variety of therapy models that are individualized to produce change, the foundation that guides our work is based on Judeo-Christian perspectives to help alleviate anxiety, shame, guilt and other difficult emotions through honest self-evaluation. We find art and individuals’ narratives to be therapeutic and know that the stories embodied within them evoke memories which are both pleasant and painful. Art and literature fill our lives with meaning. In our work, we use photography and journaling as tools to build a positive attitude, confidence and to increase feelings of resilience, empowerment and self-expression.
